A Journal Bearing is the most common type of sliding bearing.

- Bearing & Shaft, or Journal

The journal is supported by the bearing.

The journal/shaft moves inside of the bearing.

Bearings can handle two types of load that depends on the direction against the shaft: Radial Load and Thrust Load.
